Ensure that git local storage can be configured cleanly on the cloud

May also need an optional new "git" category of storage plane. Default to
i) specified
ii) 1st git plane
iii) first dll plane.

Also need to be sure that remote authentication can be cleanly set up. Possibly should add a regression test that requires it. (One with authentication, another without.)
