The users of the HPCC system will need ways to aggregate costs in different ways e.g.
costs of reading and writing files as a separate summary item within a workunit
I suspect this is likely to need some kind of audit log for costs, which can then be rolled up in multiple different ways. It would be good to discuss the requirements and possible implementations more broadly -> tagging for offsite discussion.
It needs input from users e.g. tonymkirk on what is needed to be able to see where costs are going, and when
E.g., do the costs per user need to include aborted/completed jobs to help spot if anyone is unnecessarily wasting resources. Do you need to show a trend of costs for a particular job? Is the raw data enough, and someone else will worry about producing pretty graphs? Really need to get input from users to know what would be most helpful...
