System start fails if the user primary group name is different from its username

In a particular environment a user belongs to "users" primary group.

$ whoami
vamosax
$ groups
users

and the HPCC Systems start fails on this with

./hpcc-init status
 chown: invalid group: âvamosax:vamosaxâ
 chown: invalid group: âvamosax:vamosaxâ
 Group vamosax does not exist on the system or not able to chgrp (sudo?). Exiting ...

I think there is an important difference: to build this system I used "make install" instead of generate package and install, so the platform installed into one of my private directory:
