Implement createSimplifiedDefinition() for all possible expressions

    Description

      Part of the ecl indexer work - gradually extend this function so that more and more expressions are supported.  Create subtasks for the different stages.

      Note:  This also needs to ensure complicated exceptions do not generate simplified definitions.
